As Newman Regional Health continues determining its future steps after an inadvertent trigger of a special emergency alarm last week, administrators are also looking forward to new staff and new equipment.
Chief Executive Officer Cathy Pimple says two new physicians and two APRNs will join the team over the next 12 months.
This comes as Newman Regional Health has installed certain new equipment with more coming.
Pimple says the cardiovascular lab equipment as funded by the 2025 Denim and Diamonds activities is being installed. The hospital has also recently replaced all its centralized monitoring equipment and it will be replacing its medication dispensing equipment later this year.
Separately, Newman Regional Health has already had a rapid-response internal meeting called a “hot wash” after an external vendor installing hand sanitizer stations accidentally triggered an active shooter alarm, prompting a heavy law enforcement presence from Emporia Police, Lyon County and Coffey County deputies, ESU Police and Safety and the Kansas Highway Patrol. Emporia Fire also had units on standby at the scene. More internal and external meetings are ahead.
