Council Grove Police officers are highlighting two recent drug-related arrests.
Chief Shawn Wangerin says a Valley Center man was arrested Aug. 24 after a traffic stop in the 400 block of East Main. The driver, later identified as Robert D Jackson, was found to have active warrants and a revoked drivers license — so K-9 Abby was deployed and allegedly alerted to an illegal substance. Jackson was then arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked license and no liability insurance. Jackson was also arrested on the warrants for violating probation for domestic battery and failure to appear.
Separately, officers had a traffic stop in the 10 block of East Main on Aug. 30 that led to an arrest. An officer conducted a probable cause search after seeing unspecified illegal contraband in plain sight, finding and confiscating several illegal items. Dalton Stone of Lenexa was then arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of psilocybin mushrooms, possession of paraphernalia, driving while suspended and transporting an open container of alcohol.
Formal charges are pending against both individuals.
