Lyon County commissioners made a slight adjustment to the county’s open burning procedures as part of their action meeting Thursday.
Commissioners approved adjustments as requested by County Counsel Molly Priest, who says the change was rooted in citations issued during the burn season earlier this spring. The previous ordinance referenced a city statute listing violations as Class A misdemeanors. The adjustment now references Lyon County and also updates certain contact information.
Separately, commissioners voted their approval for Lyon County Area Transportation as LCAT Director Shane Brunner seeks state grant funding that could offset up to 80 percent of LCAT’s fiscal 2027 operational costs and 70 percent of its administrative costs. Brunner says more information, especially about local matching funds, will be discussed at a meeting Oct. 30.
