A Hesston man apparently escaped serious injuries after a crash in eastern Lyon County on Thursday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 61-year-old Stephen David Handley was southbound on Interstate 35 and in the outside lane when he crashed at the Kansas Highway 130 northbound ramp just before 8 am. Troopers say Handley’s car swerved into the inside Interstate lane, went off the highway to the left and hit a guardrail. The car then bounced off the guardrail and went off the road to the right, eventually going down into a ditch and hitting both a fence and a tree.
Handley was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries.
