The Emporia State volleyball team fell 3-0 in their first match of the San Diego Invite falling to host Point Loma 25-17, 25-13, 26-24 at Golden Gymnasium on Thursday. ESU was outclassed by the Sea Lions in set one as Point Loma outhit the Lady Hornets .222 to .000. The second and third sets were far tighter with ESU pulling in front on hitting percentage in both sets, but Point Loma found late runs to steal set two and three with a 4-1 run to end the second set before grabbing the last three points of the match in the third to seal the sweep. ESU went with a 6-2 offense in the match utilizing two setters with freshman Delainee Dexter dishing 14 assists and returning Brailee Bogle handing out 12. Newcomer Nyia Anderson was the only Lady Hornet in double-digits with 11 kills. ESU (0-1) returns to action Friday to face Cal State Bernardino in their second match of the event. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
