Longtime Lyon County public servant Bob Davis has died.
Davis was born four miles west of Olpe in 1938, graduated from Emporia High School and served in numerous roles, including farming, ranching, owning a quarry and owning Davis Agri as part of his business career. He also served on the USD 252 Southern Lyon County Board of Education, Rural Water District 3 Watershed and Eagle Creek Watershed boards and Lions Club. Davis also served as a Lyon County commissioner, 4-H leader and hunter safety instructor and was active with the US Department of Agriculture.
Davis is survived by three sons, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister and two sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers — one of whom, Dale, died earlier this year.
Davis was 87.
Cremation is planned with a celebration of life Sept. 18 at the Olpe Knights of Columbus Hall.
