No injuries were reported after an Emporia trash truck hit a utility pole in central Emporia on Friday.
Emporia Fire Capt. Greg Davis says the incident happened around 3 pm in the 1300 block of Lawrence, with the pole cracked at the base and down on the ground as firefighters and Evergy arrived.
Public Works Director Dean Grant says the street had a lot of parked traffic with an estate sale nearby. The driver hit the pole while trying to maneuver a box into position.
