The Emporia State volleyball team outhit Northwest Nazarene .240 to .133 on the way to a 26-28, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19 victory to wrap up their trip to San Diego, Calif. on Saturday. Graduate Nyia Anderson paced ESU with 11 kills while freshman Delainee Dexter added 10 to go along with 15 assists and seven blocks. ESU led for most of the first set but couldn’t close it out as the Nighthawks stole it at the end to lead 1-0. E-State ripped off a 10-1 run to start the second before Northwest Nazarene closed within three, but the Lady Hornets held them off to level the match. ESU led by as many as nine in the third before closing the match in the fourth on a 5-1 run. The Lady Hornets return to action at the Washburn Invitational on Friday.
