At least for now, there is a potential rematch for next year’s race for Kansas Attorney General.
Incumbent Kris Kobach, a Republican, announced a run for re-election late last week. Kobach says he has prioritized law and order in several ways, creating the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Fentanyl Impact Team and making organized retail crime a felony, as examples of why the state’s crime rate is now at a 20-year low.
On the Democrat side is Chris Mann, a former police officer in Lawrence and prosecutor in the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office. Kobach narrowly beat Mann for the position in 2022.
