The search for Herington resident James Cole is now into its second week.
Authorities say Cole, 24, started using the Flint Hills Nature Trail at Herington early Aug. 31 and had no jacket, food or water when he started. Cole was tracked to an area near Burdick in southwest Morris County early last week before the trail went cold.
Herington Police says Cole’s information has been shared with area law enforcement agencies, as well as the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and federal agencies.
Cole is a white male, weighing 140 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He also has extended family near Emporia, but it’s still unclear whether he was traveling here. Authorities believe he is traveling by foot.
