An Emporia resident was hospitalized after a wreck near Olpe early Wednesday morning.
The crash was reported in the 600 block of Kansas Highway 99, less than two miles south of Olpe, just after 1:10 am. Lyon County Deputy Dylan Jacobs says a small car driven by 41-year-old Amy Herl of Emporia was southbound when a deer tried to cross the highway and hit the car instead.
Herl declined a medical transport after suffering apparently minor injuries. A passenger, Parys Daniel, also had suspected minor injuries but was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment.
