Nearly 180 people enjoyed the David Traylor Zoo atmosphere with a delicious twist Friday night.
The annual Zoo Brew: A Night in the Wild brought residents to the zoo for a catered dinner from Bobby D’s Merchant Street BBQ, drinks from Radius Brewing, Trolley House, Turquoise Tavern, Union Street Social and Mulready’s Pub and live music from the Steve Kile Band.
Director Brenda Young has been leading the zoo for just over a year. She says she’s energized by the potential at the zoo.
Proceeds go into the Oasis capital campaign for ongoing improvements, including plans to bring North American river otters to the zoo.
The event schedule for the zoo is busy for the rest of the calendar year. Boo in the Zoo is on Halloween, with the Happy Holidaze lighting ceremony in November leading to an expanded Holiday Light Stroll Dec. 13, 20 and 27.
