Totals aren’t being announced at this time, but the Emporia Community Foundation has announced the recipients of grant funding through the Trusler Foundation.
Grant funds this year will support:
*ECKAN in Lyon and Coffey counties to stock a food pantry
*Emporia Main Street to augment its Digital Fabrication Innovation and Training Center
*Emporia Senior Center to buy new tables and chairs
*Just-As-You-Are Rainbow Sanctuary for operations support
*Southwick House for its “Next 100 Years” campaign
*Strong City Preservation Alliance to install handicapped-accessible and family-friendly restrooms at the Strong City Opera House
This year’s announcement involves almost $195,000.
The Trusler Foundation reflects the work of nationally-known grain dealer Harold Trusler, who led several organizations locally and statewide, including serving as vice president for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce. Harold and his wife, Irene, started the fund in 1957. The fund has led to gifts of over $5 million areawide the last 20 years.
