Several items of note are ahead for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education’s regular meeting this week.
Board members will get a presentation from IMA Corporation as the district considers health insurance options. Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Joshua Swartz has suggested the district consider moving away from full-pay insurance and go towards a self-pay option instead, and IMA is tentatively set to provide a cost benefit analysis during its presentation.
Another focal point will be ongoing work on the Emporia Middle School track and field project. The topic is the district’s program highlight for the meeting, and board members will consider a nearly $80,000 change order for underground infrastructure, as well as related permits and engineering work, as part of a separate but related item.
Board members will also discuss an update to board policy on licensed employee resignations before entering two executive sessions, one for attorney consultation and one on reviewing Superintendent David McGehee.
The meeting starts at 6 pm Wednesday at Mary Herbert Education Center.
