A flood watch was announced Monday and is now active for Chase and Greenwood counties until 1 pm. The National Weather Service is concerned about “efficient rain rates” of 1-3 inches in a short time period and it says pockets of heavier rain totals are possible. Residents are urged to “turn around, don’t drown” if they see water over a given roadway.
Speaking of flood impacts, the Lyon County Highway Department just reopened four road segments after heavy rainfall last week. The list includes:
*Road 150 from N to P
*Road 160 from P to R; from R to S
*Road R from 150 to 170
