The Emporia State volleyball team swept Northwest Missouri 25-19, 25-12, 25-21 to win their 11th straight match on Saturday at White Auditorium. The Lady Hornets took control in the first set with a 7-2 run after the Bearcats tied the frame at 11-all. ESU blew open a close second frame with a 13-4 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third, E-State scored six of seven with the match knotted at 18 to give themselves five match points and converted on their third opportunity. Nyia Anderson led the offense with nine kills as ESU frustrated Northwest into 28 attack errors and held the Bearcats to .016 hitting on the night. Anderson also paced the defense with 13 digs while Mia Frisbie controlled the net with eight total blocks. ESU’s winning streak is the longest since 2009 when the Lady Hornets won 13 in a row. Emporia State (11-2, 2-0 MIAA) travels to Wichita Thursday to face Newman. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. at Fugate Gymnasium.
