Blue-green algae alerts continue for two Emporia lakes and one in Osage County.
Algae warnings have been in place for several weeks at King Lake and the Peter Pan Park pond. There was no change in their status as part of the latest update from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Melvern Outlet River Pond in Osage County, meanwhile, remains in an algae watch.
Warnings mean a harmful algae bloom is expected or present, while watches mean a bloom is possible and may be underway. Blue-green algae is harmful to humans and can be lethal for pets and livestock.
