The Emporia Spartans soccer team fell at home to the Kansas City Turner Bears 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday night. The Spartans fell behind 2-0 at halftime before rallying to score two straight in the second half, one by Brayden Sailer and the other by Kevin Magana. Emporia had some chances to take the lead in regulation but were unable to breakthrough.
The match went into overtime and Bears had a set piece and scored off of a cross in the box that gave Turner the golden goal and the road win. Emporia Head Coach Victor Ibarra talks about the loss.
Ibarra says that despite the loss, there were also a lot of positives, and liked the Spartans effort to comeback in the match.
Next up for Emporia is a road match at rival Manhattan on Thursday.
