Emporia Police officers have filled in some details after a crash into a building this past weekend.
Capt. Ray Mattas says 67-year-old Donald Hensley of Emporia was cited for careless driving after crashing into a building front at 545 Sherman, causing extensive damage to the front of Shull Roofing and less-extensive damage to Stewardship Home Management next door. Hensley apparently failed to fully negotiate a turn off West Sixth and officers on scene say speed may have contributed.
Mattas says Hensley had an unrelated and unspecified criminal matter, but that information can’t be divulged because it’s not currently part of open public record.
