#9 Washburn controlled the match from the first serve and swept aside Emporia State’s 13-match winning streak 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 at White Auditorium on Tuesday night. The Lady Hornets struggled to slow down Washburn’s attack in the first set and was outhit .405 to .171. ESU struggled to stay in system in the second with 11 attack errors while hitting -.020 in the frame. Washburn used a 5-1 run in the middle of the third to take a 20-14 lead and cruised to the sweep from there. Head coach Ken Murczek gave the visiting rivals credit for their performance.
E-State committed 22 errors in the match to just 12 for the visitors. Lavra Krizanic and Camilla Osolla each paced ESU with seven kills. ESU (13-3, 4-1 MIAA) returns home Friday to host #2 Nebraska-Kearney. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
