With a new schedule and new layout, the Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival is just about set to launch.
Festival organizer Hank Osterhout has been constantly tinkering with the format since it began six years ago. Last year saw the first time there was an admission fee — as well as reducing the number of stages from four to three. This time, Friday’s activities start at 2 pm, with activities inside and outside at several downtown locations.
There will also be a Battle of the Bands Friday evening, with four bands playing in the 10 block of West Ninth as a way to get onto the Champions Landing stage — and be part of the camping-style atmosphere — for Saturday. Champions Landing will have two stages, and Osterhout says there will be a lot of features for concertgoers to enjoy along with the music.
Saturday music begins at 1 pm. First-come, first-served parking will be in effect immediately around Champions Landing, with extra parking available at the CrossWinds ESU parking lot.
This year’s festival also includes an open mic event at Mulready’s Pub on Friday and the Halfway Huck Disc Golf Tournament at Champions Landing on Saturday.
