The Emporia State volleyball team passed another tough test on Friday holding off #24 Central Missouri 19-25, 28-26, 25-18, 23-25, 15-10 at White Auditorium. UCM raced out to a 1-0 lead in the match after hitting a scorching .519 in the first set, but the Lady Hornets found a big comeback down 19-15 in the second set to level the match. After controlling the third set, the Jennies found big points at the end of the fourth to force a decisive final set where ESU raced out to a 5-1 lead and never trailed in the game. It was ESU’s third-straight match against a team ranked in the AVCA Top 25 and the Hornets are now 4-2 against ranked foes this year. Lavra Krizanic led the way with 16 kills to go along with 14 digs and talked about celebrating the win with a lap around White with her teammates.
Head coach Ken Murczek said Krizanic is a complete player.
ESU (16-3, 7-1 MIAA) has won three matches in a row and is back at home Saturday to host Missouri Southern. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
