State assessment scores will be a lead topic for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education meeting this week.
Interim Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning and Student Services Sheryl Leeds and Director of Assessment and Accountability Ryan Karjala will discuss results and their relationship — or lack thereof — to ACT scores, advanced-placement coursework, dual credit status, graduation rates and postsecondary success. That presentation immediately follows a presentation on reading intervention courses and a purchase request of over $13,000 for the Read 180 program, which is a state-approved “at-risk evidence-based” program.
Board member reports, a report from Superintendent David McGehee and an executive session on personnel matters are also planned.
The meeting is at 6 pm Wednesday at Mary Herbert Education Center.
