Barely a week remains before the 2025 general election.
Lyon County Clerk and Election Officer Amie Jones, a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show on Monday, says turnout has been “a little slower than we would like” for the race involving mayors, city councils, the Emporia City Commission and school boards. She also says the current total of 223 advance votes as of 5 pm Friday is low, compared to recent local-only elections.
In-office advance voting continues at the Lyon County Courthouse from 8 am to 5 pm all this week and from 8 am to noon Nov. 3 before the general election Nov. 4. Jones says residents in line at noon next Monday can still use vote at the Courthouse. A state-issued government ID is needed to vote.
Mail ballots, meanwhile, have an important deadline Tuesday — the last day people can file a request for that process.
For Election Day, polls are open from 7 am to 7 pm. For Lyon County voters, the only recent change in polling places affects residents who used to vote at the former First Christian Church.
Jones has been joining KVOE’s Morning Show weekly to discuss different components of the general election. She will review the election as part of a Morning Show appearance Nov. 10.
