The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce has Christmas in its sights.
The annual Christmas Parade is Dec. 2 in downtown Emporia. Activities this year will revolve around the theme “It’s a Country Christmas!” including the lighting and dedication ceremony at 6:30 pm and the actual parade at 7 pm. In case of bad weather, activities will take place Dec. 4.
The parade entry deadline is Nov. 18. Residents with questions can either go online to emporiakschamber.org or call 620-342-1600.
Other holiday activities are already in full planning mode, including the Happy Holidaze lighting ceremony at the David Traylor Zoo in late November and, thanks to the Chamber, Visit Emporia and ESB Financial, the debut of Emporia’s seasonal ice rink in the 900 block of Commercial on Nov. 21, following an official ribbon-cutting event Nov. 20.
