The Emporia State volleyball team won a tough first set and wore down Northwest Missouri late in a 27-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20 victory over the Bearcats at Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Mo. on Friday. Northwest used a late run to take advantage in the first set, but ESU ended the frame on a 6-1 run to win the set as the Lady Hornets saved three Bearcat set points. The defenses controlled set two with neither team hitting better than .130 as Northwest tied the match. The Bearcats managed just seven kills in the third set and ESU had three aces in the fourth set to out-ace Northwest 10-6 in the match. Nyia Anderson led all attackers with 22 kills while Emma Klett added 14. Boglarka Rady had 24 digs while Brailee Bogle churned out 28 assists. ESU (18-4, 8-2 MIAA) continues a five-match road swing at #23 Missouri Western Saturday.
