An Emporia man and a Burlingame man suffered injuries as part of a crash on Interstate 35 near the Lyon-Coffey county line early Saturday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash involved two vehicles and developed shortly after 3:10 am at mile marker 141 southbound, or near the Kansas Highway 130 exit and about three miles north of Neosho Rapids.
Troopers say a pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Richard Jones of Burlingame was in the center median facing southbound for unlisted reasons, while a southbound car driven by 34-year-old Mohammad Faizi of Grandview, Missouri, was in the inside lane. Jones pulled onto the highway southbound and the two vehicles collided.
Jones and a passenger, 30-year-old Curtis Morse of Emporia, both suffered apparently minor injuries and were taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment. Faizi was not hurt.
