Emporia’s Southeast Transmission waterline project continues to move gradually towards completion next fall.
The latest work zones include Seventh and Neosho beginning Monday and Fourth and Neosho, set to begin Wednesday. Work at Fourth was originally set to begin on Veterans Day on Tuesday before getting delayed.
The closure at Seventh and Neosho could last up to three weeks. Work at Fourth is a tie-in, meaning a much shorter impact to nearby residents.
These work zones add to full street closures along Seventh at Walnut, Washington and West, as well as partial closures along Seventy from Walnut to Neosho and Neosho to Fourth.
Southeast is replacing existing waterlines with over 24,000 linear feet of water mains ranging in diameter from four to 20 inches, depending on the location. Over 220 new service lines and related improvements are also part of the overall project, which moves from 12th and Garfield to South and Carter.
