An Olpe woman and Arkansas man were hurt and hospitalized after a wreck near the Emporia Municipal Airport on Monday.
Lyon County Deputy Brandon Early says the crash happened at the intersection of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 130 shortly after 7:30 am. Deputies found two vehicles had collided, with at least one rolled over.
Early says 19-year-old Baker Allhands of Magnolia, Arkansas, was westbound on Road 130 and failed to stop at the highway. Allhands’ pickup truck then hit a northbound car driven by 22-year-old Adalina Scheve of Olpe.
Both Allhands and Scheve were taken to Newman Regional Health with unknown injuries. Additional details are pending.
8:30 am Monday: Two hurt in wreck outside Emporia Municipal Airport; one person declines hospital transport after wreck near ESU
Emporia Fire has confirmed two people have been taken to Newman Regional Health after a crash outside Emporia Municipal Airport on Monday.
The wreck was reported on Kansas Highway 99 shortly after 7:30 am, following a two-vehicle wreck. Fire Capt. Greg Davis says one person was transported from each of the two vehicles involved. Additional details are still being compiled.
Separately, a wreck was reported at 15th and Merchant about 10 minutes later. One person was observed on site and declined a hospital trip afterward. Further details about this wreck are pending.
7:45 am Monday: Injury crash reported outside Emporia Municipal Airport
Emergency responders and law enforcement are on the scene of a reported injury crash south of Emporia.
Crews were called out to the 1200 block of Kansas Highway 99 outside the Emporia Municipal Airport shortly after 7:30 am. Details are currently pending for the number of vehicles and number of patients.
