Even after Monday’s official vote canvass, one small-town position isn’t yet settled.
All three of the Admire City Council positions will be filled by write-in candidates after nobody officially filed for the seats. Lyon County Clerk and Election Officer Amie Jones says Nicole Kuhn was the lead vote-getter with eight votes, followed by Robert Rust with seven. Rob Gore and Shannon Reed each got three votes — setting up a likely coin-flip tiebreaker during the Lyon County Commission action meeting Thursday morning. County commissioners will determine the tiebreaking method before conducting said tiebreaker.
All the other small-town and rural school district positions have been settled:
*Allen City Council had three positions available. Write-in Isaac Niedfeldt joins Roger Floyd and Kathy Jo Jackson on the board. Floyd had 31 votes, while Jackson had 28 and Niedfeldt had 12.
*Bushong City Council had two spots available. Write-in Jeff Modlin had two votes — less than Vicki Jackson, but more than another person on the ballot, Christina Atchison, who got no votes.
*For Neosho Rapids City Council, two positions were available. Amy Sull, the listed candidate, got 50 votes. Johnny Weidknecht led the write-in field with 16 votes.
Jones says there were 65 provisional ballots, with only four mail ballots included. The Lyon County Board of Canvassers approved 52 provisionals Monday.
