While the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Kansas Highway Patrol have not officially named the trooper shot in Saturday’s fatal officer-involved shooting incident in northern Osage County, the Kansas State Troopers Association has done so in an effort to generate funds for his medical recovery.
KSTA has set up a fund on behalf of Trooper Adam Ellis, who was shot along with three Osage County deputies following a reported domestic violence incident near Carbondale. The support organization says Ellis needs surgery and may need other medical procedures as part of his recovery.

One Osage County deputy was reported as released from Topeka’s Stormont-Vail Hospital on Saturday, with the others in good condition. The trooper was initially taken to Stormont-Vail before being transferred to University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas.
The lead suspect, 22-year-old Stephen McMillan, was killed at the scene. McMillan’s 77-year-old grandfather was hospitalized after getting hit by at least one bullet.
