The Emporia State women’s basketball team exploded for 28 points in the fourth quarter and held off Missouri S&T 78-72 on Saturday at White Auditorium in Emporia. The Lady Hornets won their 19th straight against the Lady Miners, a former MIAA foe. ESU built a 29-19 lead in the first half just to see S&T trim it to 35-32 at the half. The Miners led by one going to the fourth, but ESU found a 12-1 run with less than six minutes to go to take control of the game with eight of the points coming from Kaitlyn Sanders who matched a career high with 24 points in the game. Macey Gandee added 12 points and seven rebounds. ESU (2-2) returns home Tuesday to host Quincy. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. with pregame coverage at 6:30 p.m. on Mix 104.9.
