Area residents came out in droves to help Ed and Jane Linhart through Ed’s latest cancer battle.
The “Betting on 19” fundraiser brought people to Lebo’s Heidi Inn for a range of activities, including a poker run, pool and poker tournaments, live and silent auctions and a free will donation meal. Organizer Karen Sergeant says she and her husband were glad to help.
Jane Linhart was touched by the support.
Linhart says says it has been rough watching her husband battle cancer for the second time in a decade, this time fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Ed Linhart’s treatments started with three rounds of chemotherapy since late September. He has another chemo treatment before the end of the year. A bone marrow donor has been confirmed and is an exact match, so there will be a transplant in Omaha, Nebraska, in January, followed by a 30-day hospital stay and another 90-day recovery period within 10 minutes of the hospital.
