Total tax collections for November surpassed last year’s mark but fell just short of expectations for the state of Kansas.
The monthly report had the state gaining $687 million for November, up 1.7 percent from a year ago but missing estimates by 0.3 percent. Individual income taxes at $368.5 million were 2.2 percent above estimates and almost 10 percent above last year. Other categories, however, were off — both when compared to estimates and November 2024. Corporate income tax collections missed estimates by almost 5 percent and last year’s mark by 23.5 percent. Combined retail sales and compensating use tax receipts were 3.1 percent behind projections and nearly 4 percent off from last year.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says her fiscal 2027 budget proposal is being developed with the “out years,” or at least through the rest of the decade, in mind.
