Emporia Fire and Kansas Gas responded to a downtown Emporia business Tuesday morning after a report of a gas leak.
Emporia Fire was first on the scene of Genesis Health Systems, 1007 Commercial, arriving shortly after 7:15 am. Fire Capt. Wade Schmidt says there were two issues noted, saying there were unspecified issues with the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system leading to a presence of carbon monoxide. Also, Kansas Gas reported low levels of natural gas in one corner of the building.
The business was evacuated as a precaution and will remain closed until Kansas Gas finishes its investigation and related steps. No injuries have been reported.

Crews were dispatched to Genesis Health Clubs, 1007 Commercial, just before 7:15 am. Kansas Gas is responding. The building has been evacuated as a precaution.
