Emporia swimming and diving tied for second in Thursday’s meet in Emporia. Derby won the meet with 507 points. Olathe South and Emporia each finished with 337.
Chesney Erkel secured a bronze medal in the 500 Yard Freestyle (6:38.67) and Rylan Navarro was fourth (6:45.43).
Collin Moody, Beckett Schultz, Brayden Shaw, and Luke Marshall swam a State Consideration time in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:43.82) and finished third. Those four also claimed third in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (4:02.08).
Marshall added fourth place times in the 50 Yard Freestyle (24.89) and 100 Yard Freestyle (57.85)
Phil Metz liked what he saw in the first meet of the season.
The Spartans travel to Lansing on Saturday.
