The 42nd annual Neighborhood Toy Drive is coming up this Saturday.
The drive will take place from 6 pm to 9 pm at 2308 Delane Drive, with donations of new toys, money, and, of course, bikes being accepted, according to organizer Lori Seron, who says you would be amazed at how one new toy can make a world of difference for young people this time of year.
Long known as the Delane Drive Toy Drop, the toy drive changed in recent years to reflect the entire neighborhood, including Darlene, Diane, Hillcrest and Arrowhead Drive. Seron, who, along with her husband Fred, came to the neighborhood a little over two years ago and immediately saw the merits of the event and decided they had to be involved.
As always, neighborhood residents will be joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be lending a hand unloading donations throughout the evening. All toy donations will go to the Emporia Salvation Army, with monetary donations supporting SOS.
