US Senator Roger Marshall says his plan for healthcare will “let patients become consumers again.”
The Kansas senator unveiled details of his Marshall Plan on Tuesday, saying key components are eliminating fraud and making healthcare more affordable.
Marshall says he has concerns about costs in general, specifically healthcare.
Marshall continues to blame Democrats for the federal government shutdown that lasted for much of last month, saying lawmakers missed an opportunity to generate more support for a plan like his.
Marshall says his plan will require ID verification and minimum monthly premiums as ways to eliminate fraud. There will also be what Marshall calls enhanced premium tax credits for next year before redirecting that money into what is called a Hyde-protected affordability account with a 700-percent income cap and a five-year phase down. Marshall also says his plan would lead to savings through cost-sharing reductions and would lead to peace of mind for patients through price transparency reforms.
