On Monday, KVOE Announced the Area and Emporia Athletes of the Week.
In the Area Athlete of the Week: Hartford Sophomore Lauryn Finnerty won the award. She led the Jaguars to two wins including scoring 45 points in the victory over Altoona-Midway, 64-15 on Thursday in the Valley Tip-Off Tournament. She added seven rebounds and 14 steals.
Terrick Franklin is the EHS Athlete of the Week. The junior averaged over 16 ppg in three victories for the Spartans. In the Paul Terry Classic finale on Saturday, he led all scorers with 27 points. Emporia won the Classic for a fourth straight year.
