Emporia boys wrestling placed seventh at the 73rd Douglass Goodwill Invitational Saturday in Douglass.
The Spartans were led by Jose Vargas, who won the heavyweight bracket and scored 14 points. The senior won all four matches by fall. Kolton Wyatt captured second in the 113 tournament. He went 3-1 earning ten team points. Holden Timmons added a podium finish. The 138 pounder finished fourth for four team points.
The black and red scored 98 points for seventh place. The top spot went to Basehor-Linwood with 155 points.
EHS hosts their own tournament on Saturday, December 20.
