Shortly after quelling a multi-structure fire in east Emporia Friday afternoon, local firefighters found themselves on the scene of a second structure fire Friday evening.
According to Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley, crews were dispatched to 2207 East Bayfront Court just before 9:40 pm. Upon arriving on scene, firefighters observed smoking coming from the garage and eaves of the residence and made entry.
There, they found moderate fire in the laundry room and quickly extinguished the flames. Heavy smoke damage was reported throughout the home; however, the flames did not extend beyond the laundry room.
There was no connection between this incident and the fire at Emporia Estates earlier that afternoon. No injuries were reported.
In addition to Emporia Fire, Emporia Police and Olpe Fire also responded to the scene.
