The Emporia State basketball team overwhelmed Kansas Christian College in a 113-60 win on Monday at White Auditorium. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Hornets. ESU opened the game on a 16-4 run and never trailed. ESU extended the lead with 12-straight points to make it 28-7 midway through the first half and the Falcons trailed by 28 at the intermission and never threatened in the second half. Playing in front of about 300 middle schoolers from Emporia Middle School, head coach Tom Billeter loved the energy.
Will Cravens had a late dunk for the Hornets that ignited the crowd. He said he was excited to be able to contribute.
Six Hornets scored in double figures led by Dallas Bear’s career-high 22 points. ESU hit a season-high 18 3-pointers in the game and outrebounded the Falcons by 25 on the way to outscoring KCC 25-2 on second chance points. ESU (3-6) returns to action hosting Sterling College in a split doubleheader on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. with coverage on Mix 104.9
