Emporia city commissioners are not having a study session Wednesday, but they have a lot of work to handle in their action meeting.
A public hearing and related ordinance for a budget amendment essentially lead off the meeting after appointments to the Multi-Use Path Planning and Emporia Public Library boards. The amendment is needed with the library, bond and interest, water and industrial funds all exceeding budget authority. However, with extra revenues covering expenses, city documents say no additional taxes are needed in any of these cases.
Following that, commissioners have numerous possible approvals:
*A better-than-$540,000 architectural and engineering contract with BG Consultants for improvements to the DeBauge Family Sports Complex and a separate $143,000 engineering services agreement with Professional Engineering Consultants for Industrial Park II drainage
*Issuance of taxable Industrial Revenue Bonds for the Fairfield by Marriott hotel and convention center set to open Dec. 23
*An “initial findings resolution” to establish the Cedarbrook Meadows Reinvestment Housing Incentive District along West 18th between the Jones Aquatic Center and Frontier Farm Credit
*A nearly $275,000 bid to Multicon for repairing the Emporia/Lyon County Transfer Station tipping floor
*Two contracts worth almost $12,000 total to dredge almost 12,000 cubic yards of material from the Peter Pan Park pond
The action meeting begins at 11 am at the Municipal Court Room.
