Emporia Fire and Kansas Gas handled yet another gas leak in the city Thursday.
The situation unfolded in the 100 block of East Fourth around 9:30 am. Emporia Fire Capt. Willie Ward says an IdeaTek contractor hit an unmarked Kansas Gas line.
There was a noticeable smell of gas for at least a half-block radius around the puncture site. Ward says residents of several nearby homes were told to shelter in place. Gas supply was shut off to those homes and to White Auditorium during repairs and investigation work.
Nobody was hurt.
