High fire danger is prompting at least two area counties to tell its residents not to burn.
Chase County is now into a burn ban into Monday morning. Coffey County announced a burn ban effective Sunday morning until further notice.
The alert comes in the middle of a wind advisory areawide Sunday. Since a cold front came across the area after 7 am, northwesterly wind gusts have been as high as 40 mph. Gusts up to 50 mph are possible through sunset Sunday and up to 40 mph from Sunday evening through much of Monday. Aside from light snowfall possible late Sunday afternoon, no precipitation of any sort is possible through this upcoming Saturday.
