Infrastructure needs and play spaces are getting funding from the Trusler Foundation.
Emporia Community Foundation Executive Director Linda Kehres-Schmidt says the Chase County Old School Development District is getting almost $23,000 for heating and air conditioning needs. The city of Elmdale, meanwhile, gets $10,000 for a water pump replacement project. USD 252 Southern Lyon County gets $10,000 for playground enhancements.
The Trusler Foundation is named for Harold Trusler, a nationally-known grain dealer and civic leader locally. Beginning operations in 1957, the fund is managed by ESB Financial and works in conjunction with the Community Foundation. Grants go for projects with charitable, educational, literary, religious and scientific goals.
