Newman Regional Health Chief Nursing Officer Heather Aylward has received a top honor from the Kansas State Nurses Association.
Aylward was recently named as the Nurse Administrator of the Year. Newman Regional Health says the award recognizes “Aylward’s exceptional leadership, innovative contributions to nursing practice, and unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare in Kansas communities.”
Chief Executive Officer Cathy Pimple says Aylward deserves the award.
Aylward started with Newman Regional Health 16 years ago as an obstetrics nurse before leading the Women’s Life Center for 11 years and assuming her role as Chief Nursing Officer. Aylward has continued partnerships with Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College to address the ongoing statewide nursing shortage. She has also led the hospital’s efforts to maintain its High 5 for Mom & Baby Premier recognition and accreditation through the American Commission for Health Care last year.
