A pair of Topeka residents are in custody in Osage County on suspicion of drug activity.
According to a news release from the Osage County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop just before 2:30 am Saturday at the intersection of 5th and Topeka in Lyndon for an alleged traffic violation. Illegal narcotics were allegedly found in the suspect vehicle during the stop, leading to the arrests of 60-year-old Antionette Latif and 49-year-old Orman Jones.
Latif was arrested on suspicion of distribution of cocaine, driving while under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm while under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and transporting an open container. Jones, meanwhile, was arrested on suspicion of distribution of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and transporting an open container.
Both are being held at the Osage County jail with formal charges pending at last word.
