An Abilene man is in custody in Wabaunsee County following a vehicle and foot pursuit in Alma Tuesday.
According to the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office, a reportedly stolen vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Dylan Woodcox, was traveling on I-70, exited into Alma and proceeded through the town before wrecking near the intersection of Kansas Highway 99 and Fairfield Road. Woodcox allegedly fled the scene of the accident on foot and was pursued by law enforcement.
Woodcox then attempted to hide in a cow pond but was apprehended by Kansas State Troopers, Alma City Marshals and Wabaunsee County Deputies. The Sheriff’s Office also noted the assistance of local homeowner Anthony Maike; however, they did not expand on the extent of his involvement in Woodcox’s apprehension.
Woodcox was taken into custody on suspicion of Flee and Elude, Driving a Stolen Vehicle, active warrants out of Dickinson County and not having a driver’s license. Formal charges are pending at last word.
