Storm activity is likely to continue through the majority of the day Thursday across the KVOE listening area.
Light rainfall began just before sunrise and became more moderate through the early morning hours. At the KVOE Studios, we have received 0.40 inches.
Other totals include
0.11 inches at the Emporia Municipal Airport
0.25 inches at 10th and Weaver
Coming with the rainfall will be the potential for thunderstorms throughout the day, some of which could be strong or severe, prompting the National Weather Service to place the entire listening area in a marginal severe weather risk. The main concern for any storms that develop will be high winds with gusts of up to 60 mph possible in some areas.
If you have rain reports, please message them to the KVOE Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line at 620-342-5863.
Once storm chances exit the area by the end of Thursday, attention will turn to the potential of snowfall to begin the weekend. NWS is currently forecasting a 40-50 percent chance of snowfall Friday evening into Saturday morning.
The greatest potential for snowfall will be along a line stretching from Council Grove to Topeka, with accumulations of an inch possible, with most communities likely to see just a dusting of snowfall.
